The ACC Championship game is set to take place tonight as the 19th ranked Miami Hurricanes 9-3 (7-1 ) will face off against the SMU Mustangs 8-4 (6-2 )
This matchup will feature two veterans with plenty of success in the NDL. Coach Dealer is 167-94 all time including a Conference Title with Miami in S23. Coach BlockM also holds an impressive record of 183-100 during his tenure.
Miami will be playing for not only a Conference Title but a spot in the CFP. SMU will look to play spoiler and perhaps sneak into the CFP picture with an upset win over the Canes.
Team Overview-
Miami- Balanced team with a great QB in Cam Ward and dominate run game with Damien Martinez . Defensively the Canes have been stout , allowing 18 points per game against some stiff competition
SMU- Preston Stone has been sharp all season with 16 touchdowns while connecting on 73 percent of his pass attempts. The Mustangs also have trio of very skilled running backs led by Brashard Smith who has rushed for over 1200 yards. The Defense however has been an issue , allowing 27 points per game.
Prediction-
Miami has a lot of talent on both sides of the ball but a recent roster upgrades has boosted SMU and may play a factor. The Canes will need to take care of the ball and rely on the steady play of Ward and their defense. SMU will need to create turnovers and keep the Canes guessing on defense. This one should be an instant classic as both coaches are extremely skilled . Will Coach Dealer break through with his beloved Canes or will Coach Block who has always thrived as an underdog led SMU to back to back Conference Titles? One thing for sure the uniform drip between the two teams will be next level !
All that being said, I see Miami winning this one and marching on to the playoffs.
