Conference USA Progress Report

1. Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders (3-0 Overall, 1-0 Conference)
Coach: D1ufear-408.

New coach D1ufear-408 has made an immediate impact in both Conference USA and the NDL, starting the season with three consecutive victories. The Blue Raiders secured wins against the Virginia Cavaliers (0-1 overall, 0-0 conference), Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (1-1 overall, 0-0 conference), and capped off their impressive start with a victory in the "100 Miles of Hate" rivalry game against Western Kentucky Hilltoppers (0-3 overall, 0-1 conference).

The star of the team, HB Jaiden Credle, leads the entire NDL in key rushing metrics: Rushing Attempts (71), Rushing Yards (515), and Yards After Contact (187). With such dominant performances, MTSU is poised to earn significant recognition in the next round of Top 25 polls.

2. Sam Houston Bearkats (1-0 Overall, 0-0 Conference)
Coach: Jokers78

The Bearkats are the only other undefeated team in Conference USA (minimum one game played). Their defense was the standout unit in a commanding 31-0 road win against the Oregon State Beavers. The defense combined for an incredible 7 interceptions, 6 sacks, and 3 passes defensed, holding OSU QB Gevani McCoy to a mere 45 passing yards.

Offensively, QB Hunter Watson delivered an efficient performance, recording a 179 QB rating with a stat line of 15/21, 175 yards passing, 3 touchdowns, and 1 interception. With such a strong start, Sam Houston looks to build on their momentum.

3. Jacksonville State Gamecocks (1-1 Overall, 0-0 Conference)
Coach: Justgiver31

The Gamecocks’ season has been a mixed bag so far, with a narrow 63 points scored versus 64 allowed over two games. They claimed a home win against the Air Force Falcons (1-1 overall, 1-0 conference) but suffered a tough road loss to the New Mexico Lobos (1-2 overall, 0-1 conference).

HB Tre Stewart has been a bright spot, ranking second in the conference with 42 carries for 366 yards, boasting an impressive 8.71 yards per carry average. WR Cam Vaughn leads the conference in receiving yards with 320 yards on 9 catches, averaging 17.56 yards per reception. The Gamecocks will need to find consistency to contend for the top spot in the conference.

4. Liberty Flames (0-1 Overall, 0-0 Conference)
Coach: Oldmanwobbles

Liberty opened their season with a hard-fought 21-14 loss against the UCLA Bruins (1-2 overall, 0-1 conference) at the Rose Bowl. The Flames’ defense struggled to contain the Bruins' rushing attack, which amassed over 200 yards.

On offense, Liberty showed promise with 342 total yards (118 rushing, 224 passing). Despite the loss, the game remained tied at 14 late into the fourth quarter before UCLA scored the game-winning touchdown. The Flames will look to address their defensive shortcomings moving forward.

5. Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (0-2 Overall, 0-0 Conference)
Coach: JackelopeJJ

New to both the NDL and Conference USA, Coach JackelopeJJ faced a challenging introduction. The Bulldogs’ first loss came against #7 Iowa Hawkeyes (2-0 overall, 0-0 conference), who have outscored opponents 72-10 this season. Louisiana Tech’s second loss, a 35-14 home defeat, was at the hands of Ball State Cardinals (1-0 overall, 0-0 conference) and Coach BreakneckScarab.

While the start has been tough, Louisiana Tech hopes to rebound as the season progresses.

6. Western Kentucky Hilltoppers (0-3 Overall, 0-1 Conference)
Coach: Wasted Memory

The Hilltoppers, under the guidance of returning coach Wasted Memory, are the only team with a returning coach in Conference USA. Despite showing flashes of brilliance, WKU has struggled to secure a win. Their opponents’ combined 8-1 record underscores the challenging schedule they’ve faced.

QB TJ Finley ranks second in the conference in passing yards but has thrown 16 interceptions, second-most in the NDL behind Mississippi State’s Blake Shapen (17 INTs). Backup QB Caden Veltkamp may see increased playing time as WKU looks to turn their season around.

7. Remaining Teams (FIU, Kennesaw State, NMSU, UTEP)

The remaining teams in Conference USA have yet to play a game or do not have assigned coaches. Their participation in the coming weeks could shape the dynamic of the conference race.

Conference USA boasts immense talent and competitive storylines, with standout performances across multiple teams. As the season progresses, the race for the championship promises to deliver excitement and drama.
