Block 4 Big XII Power Rankings: Ups and Downs

Welcome to the NDL Big XII Block 4 Power Rankings! We're witnessing an exciting season with three teams in the top 15 and four still undefeated, setting the stage for some intense competition ahead. However, it's not all about the frontrunners—there are also three teams still searching for their first win. But don't count anyone out just yet! The season is far from over, and there's plenty of time for these squads to turn things around and make their mark. Let’s dive into the rankings and see how each team is shaping up!

(-6) [b]16. Iowa State Cyclones 0-1 (0-0)

They're better than this but with only one game played we can't prove it nor can we justify having them higher in the rankings.

(-) 15. BYU Cougars 0-5 (0-2)
Still searching for its first win this season, and unfortunately, it’s starting to look all too familiar. The Cougars' struggles are beginning to resemble last year’s disappointing campaign, with inconsistency and missed opportunities holding them back. There’s still time to turn things around, but they’ll need to find a way to break the cycle before their season slips away.

(-2) 14. Arizona State Sun Devils 0-2 (0-1)
Couple of unplayed games so they might be better than we think. The L's have been fairly close so I wouldn't take this guys for granted just yet.

(-4) 13. Texas Tech Red Raiders 1-5 (1-2)
Got a W against Arizona State but has lost to everyone else. The Cincy game was close. If they can find a way to play with that intensity they might be able to surprise a few teams.

(+1) 12. West Virginia Mountaineers 2-3 (0-2)
Won a barn burner against FAU but followed it up with a loss to a then winless intra conference team. They're starting to show some signs of life..I think.

(-3) 11. Houston Cougars 2-3 (0-2)
Big W back in Block 2 in a rivalry game but has followed that up with big losses in the conference. Need to win some conference games soon.

(+4) 10. Oklahoma State Cowboys 1-4 (1-2)
Gets bumped up a few spots not based on their accomplishments but rather everyone else's lack thereof. This is a solidly built team and there is a stretch of very winnable games coming up. Can they fix it?

(+7) 9. Baylor Bears 1-0 (1-0)
Big jump for Baylor with their first W. Was it too high? It took OT to beat the bottom ranked team. Time will tell as they start getting more games in.

(+3). 8. Arizona Wildcats 2-3 (1-1)
Being .500 in the conference at least gives you a chance early on. Should have a good shot at going at least 2-2 over the next 4 games. So .500 is looking good I guess.

(-2) 7. TCU Horned Frogs 4-2 (1-2)
Only two losses but they're both conference losses. Can't keep that up. Have dropped in the power rankings each release. Big game this block that could get everything back on track.

(+1) 6. Kansas Jayhawks 2-2 (2-0)
Started the season off rough but have turned around and put up back to back wins including one over TCU. Probably the favorite in their next two games and then head into the Sunflower Showdown with in state rival K State.

(+1) 5. Kansas State Wildcats 3-0 (2-0)
Still waiting for that win that proves they're really a threat. Undefeated is nice not doubt but lets see what happens with Notre Dame and Colorado.

(-) 4. Cincinnati Bearcats 4-1 (2-0)
Great looking season so far but is about to have a tough time with their W7 opponent. They'll get a tune up game in-between that and a rough W9 game.

(-1) 3. UCF Knights 3-1 (1-1)
A very close loss to #4 Colorado see's them drop one spot. An argument might be able to be made to leave them at 2 but the Utes would have something to say about that.

(+1) 2. Utah Utes 4-0 (2-0)
The Georgia Southern win was closer than expected but their coach is solid. Scheduling gods do love the Utes as they won't really face a conference challenge until W8 and then probably not again until the last two blocks.

(-) 1. Colorado Buffaloes 4-0 (1-0)
Huge conference opening win. Solidified their spot at the top and gets them a push up the Top 25 polls as well. I don't really see a challenger until W12. But there's always a chance at upsets.
