Liberty's hopes for a turnaround season under coach OldManWobbles hit another snag as Florida dominated in a 45-10 rout, dropping the Flames to 0-3 behind a disastrous five-interception performance.
Quarterback Kaidon Salter's day spiraled out of control with five picks on 15-of-26 passing, managing just 145 yards and one touchdown against the opportunistic Gators defense. The Flames' ground game stalled with 63 total yards, as Quinton Cooley led with a modest 53 yards on 14 carries.
Florida's DJ Lagway showcased the difference in firepower, accounting for four touchdowns (2 passing, 2 rushing) while Montrell Johnson Jr. added 170 total yards and two scores. The Gators outgained Liberty 421-208 in total offense.
"At this point, I might need to check if I accidentally installed last year's Buffalo playbook," Coach OldManWobbles likely quipped after the game, attempting to find humor in the mounting struggles. "Five interceptions makes for a long afternoon, no matter who you're playing."
With championship aspirations fading fast, Liberty faces mounting pressure to salvage something positive from what's becoming an increasingly challenging debut season for their new head coach.
