14. Colorado State- 5-3 The rudderless Colorado State Rams are without a coach and without direction. Until they get another coach we will leave them at 14.
13. Oregon State- 0-6 At 0-6 the Beavers have struggles this season to score points with only 71 in six games. the defense is not much better giving up 238 points. Turnover are a major issue with 29 that is second most in the NDL. The schedule gets little light from here on out so we look for OSU to find that first win.
12. Utah State 0-5 0-2 The Aggies have had a rough go of it so far this season and it doesn't get any easier with Wyoming and Texas on the schedule. If the Aggies can find a run game, zero yards on the season, things could improve.
11. UNLV 0-4 0-0 The Rebels are 0-4 but have not played a conference game yet so technically the are still in the tick of the Mountain West race. Its a bold strategy to stay in the conversation but I don't think its going to work out in the end.
10. Hawaii 1-6 1-3 The Rainbow Warriors are having a down season but things have looked up recently with a huge win over Nevada and close games against Fresno and Washington State. Cutting down on the turnovers and getting some third down stops, currently at 56 percent, will go a long way in getting some more wins.
9. San Jose State 2-4 1-2 The Spartans had a big home win against a good Nevada team and have played all their competition close. They have some big games against Wyoming and Fresno coming up and will have a shot at the MW title with a little bit ore efficient pass defense where they rank 101 in the NDL.
8. Air Force 3-4 2-2 The Falcons are still in the MW race at 2-2 in conference and it looks like they have hit their stride offensively . They have some big games down the stretch with a date with Army and the Commanders Cup on the line. Fresno, Neveda and SDSU is a gauntlet of a way to finish the season. Win out and the Falcons will do the unthinkable.
7. Wyoming 2-0 1-0 The Cowboys are sitting undefeated and should be higher but we do not know a lot about them because of the lack of games played. The early win over Air Force looks good but that was before the Falcons hit their stride.
6. Nevada 4-3 2-2 This was a tough one to place but with a very inconsistent play they land at number 8. They still have a shot at the MW but need more consistent play to make it happen down the stretch. The Wolfpack offense has been impressive in grinding the ball as they rank second in the NDL with 153 first downs.
5. New Mexico 4-4 2-2 The Lobo's are 2-2 in conference and the same situation as Nevada where if they win out they have a shot at paying for a MW title. 3rd down and pass defense have to improve to make this a thing.
4. Boise State 3-3 2-1 The Bronco's lost a heart breaker on the smurf turf to SDSU with Jeanty running for an impressive 366 yards and 3 touchdowns. The schedule sets up nicely for a possible title rematch with SDSU.
3. Fresno State 6-2 2-1 Two heart breaking losses in conference has derailed the Bulldogs magical season. The upcoming home game against SJSU and Valley Cup will go a lot to how the season plays out and their title hopes. They also have a dangerous Air Force squad on the schedule along with UNLV to navigate to try and get a shot in the title game to redeem their season.
2. Washington State 4-2 The Cougs have turned it on as of late and with two big wins over Fresno and Hawaii. The schedule only gets tougher with games against Boise, SDSU, and Wyoming.
1. San Diego State 5-1 2-0 The Aztecs find themselves in the drivers seat after a big win at Boise. With games against Wyoming and Air Force along with UNLV it will be difficult but we look for the Aztecs to run the table in conference to the title game.
