In a game that saw Sam Houston State bounce back in a major way, the Bearkats defeated UAB 41-14, with running back Jay Duckers putting on a show. Duckers was unstoppable, rushing for 200 yards and scoring four touchdowns, leading his team to a dominant victory.
Head coach Larry Bell was visibly impressed with his team's performance, especially after their worst performance of the season a week earlier against Kennesaw. "We needed to show ourselves, and we did just that," Coach Bell said after the game. "The way we responded to our last performance is a testament to the character of these players."
Sam Houston State's offense was in full gear, as Duckers’ explosive performance set the tone for the entire team. The Bearkats' offensive line was dominant, opening holes that allowed Ducker to break off several long runs. Quarterback play was also efficient, and the defense did their part in containing UAB with 4 INT's.
With the win, Sam Houston State remains undefeated, setting the stage for a highly anticipated rivalry matchup against Liberty next week. Coach Bell, while pleased with the win, made it clear that his team has much to prove moving forward.
"We're not satisfied yet. We've got a long way to go. This team has more to show and not just to the nation, but to ourselves as well," Bell remarked. "Next week is another challenge, and we’ll be ready."
As the Bearkats look to continue their perfect season, all eyes will be on their next game against Liberty, which promises to be a fierce battle for supremacy in the conference.
