Coach NTX hopes to join the legends in the Cradle of Coaches

Redhawks Season Preview

Oxford, OH- August 2025

John Harbaugh, Sean McVay, Ara Parseghian, Bo Schembechler, and more recently cDub and Hart4Heisman. The legends of Miami of Ohio football either on the field, on the sideline, or later in life taking what Miami instilled in them to the NFL. Both cDub and Hart4heisman posted 10 win seasons in Oxford. The standard at Miami was set in place over 100 years ago when Weeb Ewbank was leading the leather helmeted Redhawks to big wins over Cincinatti.

A new era has begun as coach NTXblue takes over in Oxford and despite what history may say the expectation from school leadership is not a 10 win season. While it's fun to dream big the reality is that it's unlikely for the new coach or this team to reach those heights In fact the goal is just half that with a 5 win season goal written into the first year coaches contract.

The MAC itself is going to be an aboslute gauntlet for every team in the conference There's a crop of new coaches with significant skill and some NDL veterans taking on new roles in the MAC. It would be quite a shock to see any double digit win totals as it's more likely all these teams just beat up on each other.

The Redhawks have also lined their plate with VERY stiff competition in the non-conference including trips to high level Utah and Washington state while hosting both Marshall and Colorado State. It's not inconceivable that Miami loses all 4 games in the OOC which would leave them struggling to meet their 5 win goal for the season.

When the Redhawks run out to meet Week 1 opponent Marshall and the talented coach AllThatFinesse they'll be led by Baylor transfer QB Dequan Finn. Throughout the preseason Finn has shown himself to be extremely capable and internally the Redhawks staff believes he will be the key to the entire season. If he has the year we think he's capable of he could find himself in the discussion for All-MAC consideration. The entire offense will be built around his ability to not just throw the rock but run as well.

The Beefy Cup has been an quite an eye opener for the Redhawks and the NDL as a whole with many upsets being pulled off. Miami nearly got one themselves as they battled to a 42-35 loss to Big 12 powerhouse Kansas State. They did manage to outduel both San Jose State and Liberty in the remaining two games to secure a spot in the knockout rounds of the tournament. What we saw from Miami in those 3 games was the stuff of offensive coordinator dreams and defensive coordinator nightmares. 110 points scored and 108 points allowed. Elite performance on offense and a dismal display on defense.

If Miami hopes to be anything more than a team that puts up big stats in games they lose they will have to find a way to get stops on defense and limit big plays. We leave you with a look at the Redhawks schedule for Season 33
