In a wild game, both starters were knocked around and Carolina banged out 16 hits. Carolina tied or took the lead four times and led 9-7 in the ninth before Jose Hernandez gave the game away in seven pitches. A leadoff single by Jimenez was immediately followed up by a Bill Pickett - surprise, surprise - home run to tie it. Paul Ervin followed a groundout with a solo shot to win the game.
