Buckeye, you really need to consult with your doctor (not weasal) to make sure she isnt having problems digesting her food. I think its called collic. It makes it very painful for the baby to digest its food. I dont think its something serious (my wife had it) it just makes for very long nights for the first few months.

Definately make sure you are swaddling the baby. I am sure you are already doing that though since it is common advice.

For the first 1-4 months, the baby is going to be up at night, alot. You have to figure out a way that you can work as a team. It doesnt mean you or your wife are doing anything wrong (tell your wife that, because she is asking herself what she is dong wrong). Try staggering your sleeping schedule. My wife went to bed around 8 PM and I stayed up until 2 AM. Wife would wake up for the 4 AM feeding and I would sleep until morning. It is better than both of your having to stay awake and will help you get some rest.

Good luck, congrats, and dont worry it will get better.

We(she) did it for both our kids a couple months each. I still dont necessarily think its "better" for them.

Same thing we went through with our first three. With our recent daughter we went straight to formula, and I wanted to punch the nurse in the throat everytime she said "Nipple confusion"

Nipple confusion.

Im so immature.

I wonder when its time to get my boys tested as we have been trying a couple months and nothing. I guess you always just assume its easy, pop it in, get pregnant. But also cant take for granted that it may not happen for everyone and you start thinking that.

She has even downloaded this iPhone app that tells her "the most fertile" days and its like a baby making factory in casa de Krentsa...minus the baby.

All this stuff still scares the crap outta me. Daycare costs, life changes, all that stuff. Yes its all worth it in my opinion, but still scary crap.

And Im so busy now, cant imagine with a baby. ;)

i took a test like in 2000 when we were REALLY trying.

they told me i had "low volume" but everything else was ok...we left and the ex goes "low volume?!?! how much are you supposed to have?!"

Through laughing I had to tell her they meant actual sperm count not overall ummm, "stuff"

anyway, we gave up and 4 years later the latest one arrived (and i immeditaely got fixed  )

have fun when u goto the dr's office for the test....the one i went to had a video from like 1970 something and some playboys

..good thing u have to go the week before without sex or masturbating

lets just say i didnt have an issues delvering

That reminds me, make sure you dont show her any of the Miami games from the last 5 years. That might be giving her nightmares.

Nole way too much info above... :D

I appreciate all the advice. We are breast feeding, she seems to be on a every 4hr schedule at the moment. The swaddling thing, since the first day she was born everytime you wrap her up tight she ll eventually kick out and always tries to get her hands free. But i ll try again...

I ll try some of those drops, and i wish we had a better schedule and me and the wife agree she needs to be on one but nothing in stone right now, its change diaper, eat, sleep. You guys know what i mean.

I appreciate all the replys.

Good Luck Corey.

if it were a boy this would not even be a discussion..."just rub some dirt on it and suck it up" hang in there buckeye, she is just testing you on how much control she has over you and just like in my case, she is like Janet Jackson in the late 80s

I just saw this now. My oldest daughter went through something similar. It turned out she had some allergies and whatever my wife was eating wasn't sitting well with my daughter. It turns out that she was/is allergic to dairy, eggs and peanuts and that was part of the issue. We switched over to an allergy free formula (Nutramigen, which our insurance paid for) and things got better immediately. I hope that is not what is going on with your daughter because living with food allergies is a 24/7 job because other people who are not familiar with allergies just don't get it. Anyway, just thought I'd chime in on this.

help with baby's gas
Tell me more about this.

Little Cal is eating breast milk only but in the bottle, not from the source and he is flying through ounces in minutes.

He eats way to fast and gets super gassy and beyond fussy. We sit him up, we burp him in between every ounce, and he is just screaming the entire time.

We have some gripe water but were unsure when do you give it? During the feeding or instantly after? Before?

He is eating like 3 to 4 ounces a sitting now and just demolishing these bottles way to fast.

Matt? Shel? Anyone?

Maybe he's not getting enough, try 6 ounces and see if he finishes

Doesn't matter when he takes the gripe water

we used the mylacon gas drops per AJ's advice. Although looking back, I dont think we had a gas problem, ours was if the wife had any products dairy related it would lead to Maddie having a stomach ache. Well, after we found out what the prob was everything was great. My wife loves milk so that 7 months of no dairy products really was bad for her.

Its great now since shes talking like a champ. So now we can ask and what not.

Its not that he isnt eating or getting satisfied, he is just flying through the bottles and getting really gassy. And when completely calm he just shreeks and starts screaming out of nowhere and it makes me think its reflux or something like that.

May be the dairy or something else in the wife's diet she needs to completely cut out. Did she supplement with a vitamin or something since she couldnt drink milk?

I wonder if its colic too.

Other than that, all is well minus the 1 or 2 hour intervals of sleep and I start back to work tomorrow. :x
