I read and try to take in everything writes, last year I actually didn't get "ALOT" of feedback, this year, with me winning against bigger name coaches, I GOT TONS, as you can imagine..and honestly, I dont' really take much of it in...cause alot of I think was written in the heat of the moment "ran over 20 half back screens) I will bet my childs life that I have never ran over 10 in a game ever in any game ever. "hot routes all the time on defense" I NEVER hot route on defense....."ate the clock in the 3rd quarter or 4th quarter (got that twice)"....When I am up 25+...would you like me to just keep scoring? If your going to run hurry up and pass.....then I will chew the clock I guess haha, and the best is when someone says "it doesnt' bother me, but sometime else might say something" but then they dock you on the report. I am GUILTY as everyone, as I had stated, I used to write these last year right after my games, in loss, or even a win I would write stuff down without thinking, then the next day would think about it.....if I blitz the crap out of a guy, he only has a few options, if I dont' ever blitz a guy, he then again only has a few options, if you play man to man all game long, then only a few routes might be open, if I dont' mix it up, how can I expect him to, if he mixes it up a lot, then I need to. Just my two cents, these reports...as the THOUGHT is a great one, and it CAN mean alot coming from CERTAIN GUYS that take pride in not LIEING, nor slamming people, but helping them, then it works out great, but I think from what I have gathered and heard from people, it seems as if guys are going to lie, stretch the truth, get angry and just lower the score cause they dont' KNOW the guy, or can't beat him, and just put stuff in there that makes no sense, how can one better the gameplay per say? I dont' know how to fix the "ran 20 screens to his hb" or the "hot routed all the time on defense" or the best was one guy said I blitzed every single play, the other said I never did.....Of course every owner is or should play to his teams strengths against the opponent...sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't haha.
I KNOW the arguement is going to be..well some guys win all the time and get great reports...well they are usually guys who have been in here along time. And we all know how it works when you play a guy with a little bit of power or whatnot, you tend to either play different or kiss his ass. I have built a great relationship with guys in here already, and have had some in the past, good or bad haha, but I LOVE it here, so I am not trying to complain, mainly I am board on a Saturday cheering against NDSU, and thought I would share some insight...MPO.
I guess I just suggest you give it 24 hours before you put in your coaching reports..I think it will let you look at things from a different perspective and also maybe see things from a different view.
I am going to give my two cents here, Reading what you wrote above...
- 1st - You said: I will bet my childs life that I have never ran over 10 in a game ever in any game ever.
Really, 10 screens in a game and you don't see a problem running 10 screens?
You should have a few at most. If you need to run more than a few, chances are your opponent is blitzing the shit out of you and you need to call him on it. Pause the damn game and have a chat. No reason to ever run close to 10 screens in a game.
- 2nd - You said: if I blitz the crap out of a guy, he only has a few options, if I dont' ever blitz a guy, he then again only has a few options, if you play man to man all game long, then only a few routes might be open, if I dont' mix it up, how can I expect him to, if he mixes it up a lot, then I need to.
If you are playing by the rules of the league, you should never be blitzing all the time and you should NEVER be playing man to man all game long.
The part about your statement that really bothers me is the: if I don't mix it up, how can I expect him to, if he mixes it up a lot, then I need to.
NO, NO, NO, NO.
That is the biggest problem, in my opinion, with some guys in this league.
You should not be reacting to how your opponent is playing by playing the same way.
The rules clearly state to mix it up on both sides of the ball....PERIOD!
I have my own gameplan and I will play my way no matter what.
Now sure, if my opponent is blitzing me a lot, I may run a screen or short routes to beat the blitz, if my opponent continues blitzing and is not mixing it up, I can guarantee you that I am on AIM or pause the game and send my opponent a message.
If my opponent is not mixing it up, then they are clearly violating the rules.
Now don't get me wrong, I am not saying that you have to run man, then next play run zone, then next play run man....but what I am saying is mix it up.
DO NOT wait for your opponent to mix it up before you start mixing it up, that is the wrong way to think in this league!
I will 100% agree with you on waiting a little while to fill out your coaching reports. If you are a little heated after your game, wait till the next day and fill it out.
