That wasn't a sports injury. Didn't happen during the match.

Yeah, he was essentially kidnapped and murdered a day or two after the match.

Yeah, he was essentially kidnapped and murdered a day or two after the match.
The associate press story indicated that the family/friends of the player that was killed by the ref (died on the way to the hospital, allegedly, so not killed in the game) stormed the field immediately, stoned the ref, quartered the ref, and put his head on a stake. No news source has any mention of kidnapping or murder a day or two later. Maybe you're thinking of another ref that was killed?

Nice gesture by the Milwaukee franchise:
With their star suspended for the rest of the 2013 season and the team languishing in last place, the Milwaukee Brewers went looking for a way to say 'We're sorry' to their fans.
What they found was undoubtedly the best way to apologize: Free food and drinks.
To be more specific, each fan who spins the Miller Park turnstiles during the month of August will receive a $10 voucher that can be used at the stadium's concession stands. With 12 home dates in August and an average expected attendance of 30,000, that's a roughly $3.6 million hit the Brewers are taking with this "Fans First" promotion— or more than the $3.1 million they would have had to pay Ryan Braun had he not been suspended for 65 games after getting caught up in the Biogenesis scandal.
In taking this action, the Brewers have touched upon an existential truth in the fair state of Wisconsin: Nothing says "you're loved and appreciated" like free bratwurst and beer.

Price tag was too high for cliff Lee so sox settle on Jake Peavy

II really liked Iglesias but can't fault themove as a stud pprospect is in waiting and better than Iglesias I presume.

Sox going for it!

I like the deal for the Sox, they really didn't give up any prime players. Despite Iglesias' surface numbers this year, he's really no more than an average to below average bat with above average defensive skills. I'm a huge Peavy fan so may be a bit of bias

I agree with you Dubs.

I was hoping they werent going to give up Xander Bogarts (Shel's favorite Sox player) and they also got some bullpen help.

I like the deal especially with Bucholz being a question mark.

That probably is a lifetime ban, of sorts.

No wonder he's ready to get back into the lineup from his injury. He'd be back just in time for the stretch run next season.
