What an amazing game... Back and forth, possession by possession UGA and Carolina beat up on each other. Carolina striking first and then being matched by the Bulldogs. With a 10-7 score starting the 3rd quarter and UGA getting the ball it was imperative that the Carolina defense allow no more than a FG. Georgia drove the field and settled for three after a first and goal from near the 7 yard line. South Carolina then went back to its RB Mike Davis who got most of his yards on some very tough runs. With a first down at about the UGA 20 yard line QB Connor Shaw dialed up a corner route to Bruce Ellington giving the Cocks a slim 14-13 lead. Not to be outshined by its offense South Carolina then got its only turnover of the contest. Looking back I should have attacked the endzone on this drive, but i played it safe and settled for a FG making the lead 17-13. Georgia would answer with less than 3 minutes left and the Carolina offense would need to respond. Down 20-17 Shaw made a few plays and on 3rd and three he again hit Ellington who broke a tackle and went 68 yards to put the Gamecocks back up 24-20 with 1:10 on the clock. Feeling good about the defense i kicked off and then Keith Marshall took it 105 yards crushing my hopes.... Shaw led the Cocks back to the UGA 30 yard line but a nice adjustment by the UGA defense resulted in Shaw's second INT of the game ending the Carolin a threat.
