USC and Oregon St would meet tonight at USC Stadium for a Pac-12 battle. The Beavers would get off to a good start as they would take the opening kick-off and go 12 plays, but would have to settle for a 21 yard field goal and a 3-0 lead. USC would answer right back though on an 8 play drive that would take us into the 2nd quarter. USC would have to kick a 48 yard field goal to tie the game at 3-3. The Trojans defense would step up on the next possession as on the opening play Ryan Henderson would intercept a pass in zone coverage. USC would only need 3 plays as Max Wittek would connect with Marqise Lee on a 12 yard touchdown pass for a 10-3 lead. USC would then force Oregon St to punt and would look to take a 14 point lead. They would go on a 7 play drive but would stall in the red zone leading to a 24 yard field goal and a 13-3 advantage. Oregon St would come back firing though and would score on a 10 yard rush with barely any time remaining to cut the USC lead to 13-10 at the break. "We really were hoping to hold them to a FG on that last drive," said Coach Dealer, "the difference between 13-6 and 13-10 is major, especially getting the ball to start the 2nd half."
USC would get the ball and they would make the most of it, even though they did lose Silas Redd for the end of the drive, DJ Morgan would make up for it punching it in on a 3 yard run to go up 20-10. The Beavers would again come firing right back though, this time on an 8 play drive capped off by a 1 yard rush bringing USC's lead to 20-17. Both teams defenses would step up on the next possessions forcing punts. USC would then hit on a big 60 yard pass play from Wittek to Lee that would put the Trojans up 27-17. USC's defense would then hold Oregon St to a 39 yard field goal giving their offense the ball back with a 27-20 lead. On 3rd down George Farmer would beat press coverage and take the ball 62 yards deep into Beaver territory. Three plays later Redd would punch it in from 7 yards out to put USC up 34-20. Oregon St would get inside the 5 yard line, but would be unable to score on 4 straight plays ending the game. "We made the big plays when we needed to," said Dealer, "whether it was the pass play to Lee, the interception or some goal line stands we really came up with some great plays."
