#11 Virginia Tech knocks off #7 Miami
Blacksburg, VA {AP} Rivalry time! Virginia Tech & Miami squared off under the lights today on a snow covered field at Lane Stadium. Coming into this bout, #7 ranked Miami would be favored as the incumbent Coastal Division champs would be forced to protect their crown.
The Hokies would open with the ball and stay on the ball as they'd go on to own the 1st half, jumping out to a 17-0. On Offense Logan Thomas would throw for 2 scores while not tossing any incomplete passes. On Defense, the much vaunted run game of Miami would be stymied up front, forcing a few punting situations.
In the 2nd half, the Hurricanes would open fast in response to their deficit. Duke Johnson is an elusive man & whenever he gets the ball in space, he is bound to break loose. Additionally the Hokie run game that was so effective in the 1st half, stalled out a bit in the 3rd quarter as JC Coleman fumbled away a chance to keep Miami off their heels.
Leading by 3 heading into the 4th, the Hokies would collect themselves and fight back, putting together a decisive scoring drive capped off with a Logan Thomas option keeper.
With the win, the Hokies remain undefeated in ACC play and now prepare themselves for the final stretch of the season as the Coastal Division
is still up for grabs.
Gg Twista - glad we got a chance to square off. best of luck the rest of the way.
