The Houston Cougars hosted the Rice Owls in a thrilling rivalry game, with the coveted Administaff Bayou Bucket trophy on the line.
In the first quarter, Rice took an early lead with D. Conners' 11-yard run, followed by a successful kick from Tim Horn. Houston quickly responded with a dramatic 42-yard interception return by Jeremiah Wilson, with Jack Martin adding the extra point. Just seconds later, Rice's Drayden Dickmann electrified the crowd with a 101-yard kickoff return, and Horn's kick extended their lead.
The second quarter saw Houston's offense come alive. Devan Williams caught a 61-yard pass from Donovan Smith, and Martin's kick tied the game. Shortly after, Parker Jenkins caught a 1-yard pass from Smith, with Martin again converting the extra point. Rice fought back with a 15-yard touchdown pass from E.J. Warner to Landon Ransom-Goelz, and Horn's kick brought them within striking distance.
The third quarter continued the back-and-forth action. Houston's Jayden York caught a 7-yard pass from Smith, with Martin's kick adding to their lead. Rice's D. Conners answered with a 17-yard run, and Horn's kick kept them in the game. As the quarter wound down, Dickmann showcased his speed again with a 70-yard touchdown pass from Warner, and Horn's kick gave the Owls a 7-point lead.
With both teams neck and neck heading into the final quarter, the game promised an exciting conclusion. The intense rivalry and high stakes of the Administaff Bayou Bucket trophy made this matchup one to remember.

HOUSTON, TX - The back and forth contest, between two coaches well familiar with each other proved to be a slobberknocker, for much of the four quarters only to have Rice slip by late 35-28 and gain the Bayou Bucket trophy. The visiting Owls kept the ground and pound going, while keeping the Coogs run 'n' shoot in check for most of the contest. We checked in with coach Rags afterwards for some comments, "Hey we know each other very well (too well really lol), we're the hometown teams and Rice held up their end. We knew going in, what to expect - a seasoned coach that was used to our tendancies, and it showed today. They had an answer for us, and I thought we had an answer for them, MOSTLY. They wanted it more and won it late. Props to 'em!"
