NDL: S29W4 - San José State (17) at Washington State (42)

Schlenbaker has a big day on the ground.

Cougs Start Slow, Run Fast to Finish

Article By: Cougnix

The 0-2 Cougars came into this game trying to find an identity. In the previous two losses, the ground game was average to nonexistent, and the pass game was putting up big numbers in yards AND interceptions. San Jose State came in 1-1 and in the crazy new landscape of the Pac-12, was the first Mountain West opponent for Wazzu.
The game started very slow for the Cougs as San Jose St. seemed to move the ball with ease in the opening drive, eventually the defense held them to a FG. John Mateer started as he always has with some good throws, but then another interception stopped a promising drive and the San Jose answered with a TD. The momentum then started to slowly shift as Mateer was able to throw a pair of TDs to Kyle Williams and Cooper Mathers. San Jose answered again before half with a TD and at half it was 17-10 SJSU.
In the second half, it was all Cougs. Djouvensky Schlenbaker showed why he is the starting running back racking up 4 rushing touchdowns in the second half and capping the scoring with an 87 yard run to seal the deal.

Great game Chillichill, good luck the rest of the way!
