In a game that looked to be pretty even through the first half, the Hawkeyes used defense and a dominant run game to distance themselves from the golden gophers . They dominated the 3rd and 4th quarters on both sides of the ball , forced 7 turnovers and stifled the offense of the Minnesota team . Minnesota moves on and hopes to find its footing as it navigates a difficult first half of the season .
Iowa had a legendary performance today by CB Sebastian Castro. The Senior from Oak Lawn, IL had 4 Interceptions taking 3 of them to the house. He also led the team in tackles with 10. In total the Hawkeyes defense forced 7 interceptions and 1 fumble. Tied 14-14 at halftime, Castro led off the 3rd quarter with a pick 6, and Iowa never looked back, outscoring the Golden Gophers 28-0 in the second half. Iowa was led on offense again by Leshon Williams, who had 174 yards on just 18 carries and scoring 2 TDs. This brings his season total after 3 games to 561 yards and 6 TD's. Iowa has the rest of the week off, and are looking forward to two more road games next week vs San Jose State and Ohio State.
