This was a clash of heavyweights, old school vs new school as Coach Steamrollr22 took on the newcomer SouthGacracka in Dallas. The defenses would dominate early with both teams forced to punt in the early possessions. SMU would get a 96 yard INT that would set up their first TD. Both teams traded offensive touchdowns in the 2nd quarter with SMU taking the last of the quarter and putting the ball in the endzone. The defense continued to play big with another 94 yard INT return for a touchdown that would put the Mustangs up 18. The Mustang offense did just enough to get the job done in the second half controlling the clock and the ball just enough to keep it out of Seminole hands.
Florida state hit the road Saturday to play SMU, after winning his last few games coach Cracker was confident but cautious going into this game, coach steam is a veteran with a great record in the NDL. Early on he was able to keep the game close, but ultimately began to try and force the ball down the field. Throwing multiple costly interceptions. Coach steams ability to adjust was too much for FSU’s defense. And once SMU made defensive adjustments, the game was a wrap. FSU had no answer in terms of offense and walked away with a second conference loss, making the ACC championship game seem out of reach early in the season.
