Penn State played host to the newest members of the Big Ten, the Bruins of UCLA. The PSU faithful welcomed the new comers with a hositle environment.
Penn State opened the game with a solid drive that was capped off with a strike to the end zone, a distracted kicker (my son takling his nonsense) led to a missed extra point and a 6-0 lead.
UCLA would fight off the crowd noise and put together a solid drive of thier own but get come up a half yard short on third down and settle for the field goal making it 6-3.
PSU takes their second possession down the field and puts it into the end zone to go up 13-3.
The second drive for UCLA also ended with a PSU TD as corner A.J Harris jumps the stop route and takes it back 42 yards for a score to make it 20-3.
UCLAs Ethan Garbers would shake off the pick and throw a dime on a slant, than watch his wide out make the saftey miss and go 80 yards for the score to bring it to 20-10.
PSU would punt and UCLA would run the clock out to bring on the half.
UCLA would recieve the second half kick and be forced to punt.
PSU would use two big plays, one via the air and one on the groung to get to the 1 and punch it in from there to go up 27-10.
UCLA would put some pressure on but throw an int over the middle. PSU would convert a few first downs and use the moment of the pick to score a rushing td from 2 yards out to go up 34-10.
Neither team would get within scoring range as the 4th ticked away.
Good game Mark. Best of luck this season on teh virtual gridiron and real hardwood.
University Park, PA — In a dominating performance at Beaver Stadium, the Penn State Nittany Lions secured a resounding 38-10 victory over the UCLA Bruins on Saturday. The game not only highlighted Penn State’s formidable capabilities but also intensified the scrutiny surrounding UCLA head coach Coach Berokoff, whose precarious position has led to his house being put up for sale.
Coach Berokoff- The crowd noise was so loud that I could not even hear my coaches talking to me, plus how the heck are you supposed to play a football game when all your guys have question marks over the helmet? Maybe they were just perplexed with my play calling?
