Article By: After a game in which they were +5 in turnovers, the Wolfpack of NC State again found a way to throw 5 interceptions on the game killing every drive, never allowing the punter to punt and killing any chance of winning the game. Oh and throw in one fumble as well to be -6 in the turnover department. Sad, but true, this is the story of our season. We're bad, like really bad, and we can't come out of it. I'm guessing we better start looking for a mid major and run the ball every time next season. Great game 6ft... thanks for the tips!

Oh, Cal fans, I suppose I should be thrilled that our Golden Bears managed to pull off a 31-8 victory over NC State, but let’s be honest—was this really a triumph, or just another game gifted to us by an opponent that made more mistakes than my high school chemistry teacher? Sure, we’re now sitting at 5-2, but can we really pat ourselves on the back after this one?
Let’s start with the basics. Cal’s offense put up 319 total yards, with Chandler Rodgers completing an impressive 14 of 15 passes for 187 yards and three touchdowns. It sounds good, right? But hold your applause. Most of that success came from quick passes and the ever-reliable Jaden Ott, who carried the team on his back with 134 rushing yards and another 95 receiving yards. If you’re counting, that’s nearly 230 of our total yards from one player. A one-man show might win us games against mediocre teams, but is this really sustainable?
And then there’s our defense. Yes, they forced six turnovers—five interceptions and one fumble recovery—but let’s not pretend this was some defensive masterclass. NC State’s quarterback, Grayson McCall, looked like he was playing a game of "who can throw the worst pass" with himself. Underthrown balls, misreads, and just plain bad decisions handed the ball to our defense like it was a gift. Coach Gonzales can talk all he wants about "taking advantage of mistakes," but at some point, don’t we have to ask why we’re always relying on the other team’s incompetence to win?
Remember, this is the same team that barely scraped by against Miami in a game so ugly it could be mistaken for a DMV waiting room. Yes, we won, but are we actually improving, or are we just getting lucky against teams who are making more mistakes than we are?
Coach Gonzales said after the game, "I think we did well today... we didn’t do anything special, but I’ll take this every game if I could." Well, Coach, I’m glad you’re satisfied with mediocrity. Sure, it’s nice to chat with old pals like Coach Ice, but maybe instead of reminiscing, we should focus on figuring out why we can’t seem to dominate a game unless the other team practically hands it to us.
Look, a win is a win, and I suppose I should be grateful. But as we head deeper into ACC play, I can’t help but wonder if this team is as good as its record suggests. If we keep relying on the opposition to beat themselves, it’s only a matter of time before we come up against a team that doesn’t make those mistakes. And when that happens, well, I’ll be here to tell you, "I told you so."
So, congrats, Cal Bears, on another hollow victory. Enjoy it while you can, because tougher challenges are looming, and something tells me this house of cards might not stand up to the next stiff breeze.
PS. I think this explains why ICE's team gifted Cal the win, as a certain head coach was seen leaving instead of prepping the team, thank Fred Durst, Cal fans.
