LAWRENCE, KS - For about 3 minutes, the Houston Cougars thought they might have a fighting chance. So much for that. The Coogs forced a fumble, scored on their second drive of the game and held a 7-0 lead on the road and then it began. Houston couldn't pass, couldn't run, couldn't block. About the only thing the Houston Cougars were able to manage yesterday afternoon.....was PUNT and PUNT a PLENTLY. "42" consecutive Jayhawk points later and we get some comments from coach Rags, "Heck, their defensive line and secondary was in our backfield more than Parker was. Look at the stat sheet. We had no offense, no answer for what they were doing defensively or on offense for that matter. They shutdown our offense LIKE NO ONE I've ever witnessed and we'll have to get back to the drawing board tomorrow. I mean, I told our guys after the first couple of sacks, get rid of the ball and even then, we were toast. A lot of 1st for me, as a ball coach I witnessed yesterday and now it's back to the ole drawing board. Congratulations to Kansas, their's a reason their ranked as one of the Top 10 teams in the country. It showed today, the score could've been 82-7 if they wanted."
Jayhawks win 42-7 after a dominating performance by QB Daniels and the defense
Daniels scores 5 total TDs in this one as Houston's defense had no answer for him. The offense kept Houston guessing with a 2 RB attack as well as Daniels keeping it for 6 rushes
The defense was all over Houston's QB after forcing a season high 5.5 sacks. The early deficit forced Houston to be one dimensional and the defense took full advantage while also forcing 3 INTs
