Georgia Tech with big runs when they needed them

Canes get Swarmed by Yellow Jackets

Article By: dealer4014

Miami came into this game against Georgia Tech looking to keep the offense rolling as things had been clicking for their run and pass game. The Hurricanes offense would have a nice drive going early as they would cross midfield. Cam Ward would force a pass into tight coverage and it would cost them as the Yellow Jackets would get the pick and return it back into Miami territory. The Canes defense would hold Georgia Tech to a 38 yard field goal. Both offenses would face some tough defense the next few possessions as neither team would be able to get on the scoreboard. Georgia Tech would drive the ball down late in the 2nd quarter and would score on a 8 yard TD run to go up 10-0. The Hurricanes offense would finally hit a few nice pass plays and were able to tack on a FG of their own right before half to cut the lead to 10-3. "That field goal felt good," said Coach Dealer, "we made some errors but putting a few points on the board kind of gave us some hope heading into the 2nd half."
That hope would be short lived though, Georgia Tech would connect on a nice pass to the HB to score on a 48 yard play and give them a 17-3 lead early in the 3rd quarter. Miami would struggle to get anything going in the passing game as Ward would have little time or very few open receivers. "That Tech defense was very stingy tonight. We made some bad passes but trying to get anyone open was also a very hard task," said Dealer. The Canes offense would be non existent or turn the ball over and would lose a 20-3 in a very disappointing showing.

Yellow Jackets Survive the Hurricane

Georgia Tech bounced back in all phases in a week 11 victory over the Miami Hurricanes. All phases saw improvement since last week's disappointing loss to Virginia Tech, as the offense, defense, and special teams all recovered.

Jamal Haynes put the offense on his back, rushing for 124 yards on 20 attempts and one touchdown. He tacked on another 48 yard receiving touchdown as he caught one out of the backfield and barreled towards the endzone, effectively icing the game by giving the Yellow Jackets a 17-3 lead in the third quarter.

Trenilyas Tatum secured three interceptions to lead an all-out defensive shutdown of Miami. The defensive line managed four sacks, making passing a daunting task for the Miami QB. They did struggle in the rushing game, but the Hurricanes were all but forced to pass once they faced a two score deficit in the third.

Aidan Birr finally showed why he's on the team, making both field goal attempts and handling both extra points.

Georgia Tech seeks to get back to .500 against the UMass Minutemen in week 12.
