Turnovers have been the story of the year for the Tar Heels, and they were again tonight at Boston College, but it was a bit of a different story. UNC overcame two early interception with four interceptions of their own to help move past the Eagles 31-10. Special Teams played a huge role as good red zone defense by Carolina forced field goal attempts, and a few missed field goals kept the Tar Heels in the game early. A late drive before half put Carolina up going into the break. After going up by 10 on a field goal, a turnover gave UNC the ball with a chance to grow the lead, but BC's defense stiffened and forced a punt. A fortunate break changed the nature of the game as the ensuing punt backed up, hit a BC player in the back, and was scooped up by the Tar Heels for a special teams touchdown to put them up by 14. A fourth quarter rumble by Omarion Hampton put the game away. The UNC coach stated after the game, "Turnovers have been the story of our year, but tonight, we were able to overcome mistakes early and create some turnovers of our own to get a win vs a tough BC team."
