NDL: S29W4 - Notre Dame (42) at Pittsburgh (9)

A classic matchup, with modern results!

Pitt Gets Blown Out At Home!

Article By: the_niddler

This matchup is no longer a rivalry.
It was all Notre Dame from the opening kickoff.

Pitt had no answers to slow down Notre Dame's offense.
They were just too much to handle.
They are an extremely tough team that plays extremely well. They had speed that we could not match up with.
The play recognition of their defense is just far better and we wish coach Reign the best moving forward!

Riley Leonard Perfect 8/8 on the Day

Irish Win on the Road!

Article By: ReignOnU

The Notre Dame offense was in overdrive from the start, as QB Riley Leonard found the end zone 3 times in the 1st quarter, showing a full array of options. The first was a 6yd touch pass to WR Jaden Greathouse, the second was a short out route to TE Mitchell Evans and the third a 79 yard bomb to WR Jayden Thomas. CB Jordan Clark then capped the scoring in the first with a 39 yard pick 6, to put the Irish up 28-0 after the 1st quarter.

In the 2nd quarter, Coach Reign opted to control the possession and after quickly stopping the Pitt offense, the Irish worked a drive down the field that ate up most of the quarter. HB Jeremiyah Love finished off the drive with a 6 yard score to put the Irish up 35-0. Coach Reign was asked about the awkward moment to end the half, when 3rd string Notre Dame QB Steven Angeli was tasked with kneeling it out, only to kneel in the end zone. "Honestly, you'd think a kid at Notre Dame would be smart enough to scoot up a little. But I'll own that one. There's a reason he's the 3rd stringer."

With the Irish up 35-2 and getting the opening kickoff, they again tried to be methodical, this time turning it over on downs deep in Pitt territory. A lot of starters on both sides of the ball called it a day, as the Notre Dame backups took the field and picked up where the starters left off.

There was a little spark from the Pitt offense late in the third, that led to a 44 yard touchdown from Pitt QB Nate Yarnell to Censere Lee. But Notre Dame backup QB Kenny Minchey and HB Jadarian Price would put any thoughts of a comeback to bed, as they efficiently worked the ball down the field to put Notre Dame up 42-9 and seal the victory.

After the game, Coach Reign had this to say: "My hats off to Coach Niddler. They are a good program that should bounce back. Our defense played like they were mindreaders with teleportation ability today. Even the backups didn't leave much space out there. If we get that kind of performance every game, we're not going to give up a ton of points. It was a well-rounded game from our kids. Riley showed off some of the arm talent that brought him to Notre Dame and Jeremiyah and Jadarian displayed the thunder and lightning ability that makes the running game dangerous. We're back to work for next week!"
