Ducks survive turnover fest in Manhattan

Article By: mtwasik

MANHATTAN, Kansas - On a night that both quarterbacks struggled with a total of 13 interceptions, it was a pass from Oregon RB Jordan James to backfield mate Noah Whittington for a 22-yard score down the right side with just over a minute left that gave #3 Oregon a 21-14 victory over the upset-minded Kansas State Wildcats.

The heroics were needed from the running backs, as Dillon Gabriel tossed seven interceptions on the night. The Ducks defense had his back though, only allowing one offensive score while keeping the Wildcats out of the red zone the entire night.

Johnson scampers for a 30 yard TD.

MANHATTAN, KANSAS - AP

After some hard practicing and a close Cup Vicotry over the Cal Bears K-State came up just short against the #3 Oregon Ducks. Turnovers a plenty as Dillion Gabriel and Avery Johnson combined for 13 interceptions, one of Gabriel's 7 ending up in the endzone for the Wildcats. "Sloppy, sloppy game for both sides, but we couldn't make the plays when we needed to." Kansas State got the ball back with just under 4 minutes left and a chance to win tied at 14, but Johnson threw a costly 5th pick and the Ducks were able to capitalize, which forced K-state to the air, and then came number six.

"The defense made some marked improvements, the offense has been bang or bust, and we're all looking for more bangs the rest of the way." Coach bearass on the Wildcats performance.
