In the second game of the season for Eastern Michigan, the gameplan was to find more balance in the offense after a pass-heavy come from behind script vs UMASS. The offense was able to deliver behind Quarterback Cole Snyder. He bounced back from his 4 turnovers vs UMASS, with a 350+ yard performance and 4 touchdowns. McMillan picked up 100 yards on 20 carries to establish the balance coach TEEwade needed
The first half saw Wake get out early through the run game with over 100 yards in the 1st quarter. It looked like another day where Eastern Michigan could not stop the run and would be hard pressed to keep up. The defense responded with physicality and interceptions. The takeaways kept EMU alive despite 2 missed field goals in the first half
Cole Snyder connected with Oran Singleton on a 45 yard touchdown on the opening drive of the 3rd quarter, and the Eagles offense never looked back. Eastern Michigan would go on to lead the rest of the game. On the next drive, an interception allowed for EMU to start the drive in the red zone. Snyder found Mitchell in the corner of the endzone to take a 28-14 lead. This momentum allowed for another stop by the Eagles defense. Snyder would connect yet again on a TD throw for 3 scores in the third quarter and a 35-14 lead.
Wake would cut the lead to 35-21, but there was not enough time for Wake to mount a comeback. Eastern Michigan heads into week 3 riding high, hoping to work some more magic in the coming weeks with challenges vs Maryland and LSU
