NDL: S29W2 - Coastal Carolina (31) at North Carolina (14)

Twice Is Nice

Article By: FiredUpChip

Coastal Carolina continues their surprising start to the season with a 31-14 win over North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Both teams struggled in the redzone as Coastal Carolina had 0 redzone TDs despite 6 chances, and UNC only had 1 on their 4 trips to the "money zone". Despite this difficulty, new coach FiredUpChip stated that his team focused on having its defense be the best offense to win a tight battle. North Carolina seemed to fly down the field at times, but a few crucial interceptions including a 100-yard pick 6 was what Coastal needed to start the year 2-0.

UNC Drops Interstate Battle

North Carolina moved the ball, but they could not capitalize due to untimely turnovers throughout the game. Five Tar Heel interceptions ended promising drives and gave a very good Coastal Carolina offense too many possessions. North Carolina's defense kept them in the game throughout, but Coastal was able to make big plays when they needed them to pull away late. Omarion Hampton again shined with 165 rushing yards, but quarterback Conner Harrell showed his youth following up a near perfect season opening game with clunker by throwing five interceptions. "You can't win if you give the ball away, and that's what we did," said the UNC coach after the game. "They made some great plays on defense to end would-be scoring drives, so credit to them. We've got to do better."
