Maryland Survives Nevada, in 2/OT!
Article By: Drewwbacca received a rough welcome to the NDL, putting up 3 points across two games to open Pool Play, in the Beefy Cup. As they say though, it's why you play the games. In the season 29 week 1 opener, Maryland welcomed the Nevada Wolfpack to town, and in an instant classic, took the victory by a 58-52 margin.
Regulation was not enough. Hack, and Nevada had Drewwbacca on the ropes, and went up 7, with 1:13 to play. Billy Edwards Jr, was simply not to be denied, however. On a day where he put up 530+ passing yards, Edwards found Kaden Prather for a long gain over the middle on a crucial 3rd down, and then Edwards connected with Braeden Wisloski in the corner of the end zone, to send the game to OT.
After trading opening drive TD's and XP's, Drewwbacca quickly returned to the endzone and once again found Wisloski, 5 for 177 and 4 TD's, in the left corner. Though the Terps were unsuccessful at picking up the 2pt conversion, the defense showed some moxy and stepped up at the most critical juncture, despite having given up 52, to that point.
On a 1st and goal, the Terps broke through the line and crushed Nevada QB Brendon Lewis who was caught with his pants down on a speed option play, and fumbled the ball and the game. Maryland scooped the fumble and the ensuing sideline celebration was madness. Drewbacca's living room was off the chain, too!
