Rutgers earned their first win of the season against a pesky UCONN team. The rocking home crowd in Piscataway gave Rutgers all it needed after UCONN scored 14 points in the 4th quarter to force overtime. Some questioned whether the Rutgers head coach fell asleep at the wheel after letting UCONN score 17 straight points in the second half. Luckily the Rutgers Scarlet Knights woke up in overtime and went for two in the first overtime to avoid going to a second overtime. Scared money don't make money as they say in Piscataway.
UCONN fell short against fellow northeast school Rutgers in a 32-31 game. After scoring a touchdown and kicking an extra point in the first half of the first overtime period, Rutgers scored their own touchdown and decided to go for 2, where they ran an option play and the UCONN defense was not disciplined enough to contain the pitch to the running back, who was able to get just inside the pylon and win the game for the Scarlet Knights.
