Ball State’s stars led the way to avenge their only regular season conference loss by a score of 49-24. Quarterback Kiael Kelly was sharp, throwing for 299 yards and 2 touchdowns. Star runningback Christian Davis accounted for 166 total yards and 3 rushing touchdowns. Qian Magwood caught 4 balls for 98 yards.
The turning point in the game came with the score 14-7, Bowling Green at the 1 yard line about to score. QB Connor Bazalek attempted a QB sneak and fumbled after a hit from the Ball State D-Line crashing down. Ball State recovered the fumble and proceeded to go on a 99 yard touchdown drive. The key play on the drive came on 3rd and 5 at the BG 5 yard line. Kelly hit Magwood on a 40 yard corner route that gave the Cardinals some breathing room. Christian Davis went on to punch it in on the goal line with about a minute left in the half to put the score at 21-7. BGSU did add a FG to end the half at 21-10. After trading touchdowns in the 3rd, Ball State would score21 points in the 4th quarter, including a pick 6 to ice the game.
Coach Dcanady1 was very complimentary of the BGSU coach after the game with the media, saying "They had a great year and got better as the year went on. I fully expect Coach Vegas to be at a powerhouse next year competing for a title".
"Kiael Kelly, Christian Davis, and Qian Magwood are the leaders of this team. They helped keep the ball rolling as the defense got caught up to speed. All three players are unselfish and they don't care who gets the praise."
