The Chips were able to end their 2 game losing streak with a victory against the Ball State Cardinals and coach That Dude today in Muncie, Indiana. A defensive showdown saw Central Michigan score two touchdowns on the ground and two touchdowns by way of interception returns. This was ultimately just enough to get the win against a very competitive Ball State team that was picked to finish 2nd in the MAC this year. Asked about his thoughts for today's game, Coach Chip stated that this was a "intense showdown between two great coaches trying to get the most out of their teams, it was an exciting game and thankfully we came out on top. Bert [Emmanuel Jr.] helped us out a ton by having such blazing speed and that made the defense have to be a lot more honest for his legs than they would have for most quarterbacks." It was certainly a good win for the Maroon and Gold, and hopefully they can pull off a big upset in Baton Rouge against LSU next week. Fire Up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ball State had a tough home loss to a good CMU team lead by Chip. Kiael Kelly threw two picks 6's to set the team back and have a hole to dig out of. The defense led by Newson held tight as long as they could until the wheels fell off late in the game. The Cards are now 1-2 on the year and hope to rebound to have a better close to the season. The MAC will be a great challenge for Ball State as it is some serious talent with great coaches at the helm.
Kelly led the offense with 186 yards passing and 1 Td. The two picks he threw turned out to be the pivotal scores in the game. Kelly says " I have some room for improvement going forward and I just have to trust in my teammates to make plays. I tried to do to much and it cost us today.....I will be better going forward!"
