NDL: S30W5 - North Texas (22) at Tulsa (45)

I thought Hurricane season was over

Article By: TexaNole

The Tulsa Hurricanes delivered a resounding victory over North Texas, with an impressive show of defensive and offensive prowess. North Texas could only muster two big plays all game—a 99-yard touchdown run and an 80-yard touchdown pass in the final minute of garbage time. These isolated plays highlighted just how stifling Tulsa’s defense was, especially in the air. North Texas’s passing offense struggled significantly, completing just 4 of 15 attempts for a total of 150 yards, with two interceptions showcasing Tulsa’s dominance in the secondary.

On the offensive side, Coach Texanole’s play-calling leaned heavily on running back Anthony Watkins, who rose to the occasion with a career-best performance. Watkins was nearly unstoppable, racking up 209 yards on 39 carries and finding the end zone five times. This display allowed Tulsa to “call off the dogs” in the fourth quarter, sealing a well-earned and decisive win.

This game marked a crucial victory for Tulsa, as they surpassed their season win expectations. For fans, it was a satisfying day—especially with a defensive display as strong as Tulsa’s and Watkins’s standout performance.
