This was definitely a game to tune into. As the people hoped this was a great showdown from both coaches. UGA came out to start but was met with settling for 3 on their first drive. The Bulldogs would go on to create the games first turnover when LB J. Hall popped the ball loose from WR Ryan Williams and gave UGA great field position. This would set the Bulldogs up for their first TD as Beck connected with Arian Smith for a 36 yard TD. The Bulldogs D stood tall in the first holding Bama to just 3 points. But Bama didn't stay quiet for long as they ended the first half up by 3. The second half was a different story as UGA struggled to contain the run like they did in the first half and Bama was able to move the ball downfield and go up even further. UGA didn't quit though and with under a minute left they would find themselves yet again tied in the 4th with less than a minute to go 30-30. Bama put together a few good plays and got their kicker within range as the Bulldogs watched the ball fly and the clock tick down, they took their first loss off the season. "I honestly can't be mad about this loss. We came out and played solid football and so did Bama. There were key moments we couldn't capitalize on and we will learn from it and continue on. Always a great match with a great coach and if we are lucky we will see them again at the end of the season." said Coach Cane after the game. GGs Mike always a pleasure
Graham Nicholson was simply spectacular for the Crimson Tide
Athens, Georgia - The Alabama Crimson Tide picked up their biggest victory of the season today, traveling between the hedges and knocking off the previously unbeaten Georgia Bulldogs 33-30. The Crimson Tide fell behind early in this one and it looked as though the Bulldogs were going to run away with the game, jumping out to an early 17-3 lead thanks to some fantastic throws by quarterback Carson Beck and an opportunistic defense. Knowing things could get out hand quickly the Tide hunkered down and focused and managed to score 17 unanswered points in the second quarter to take a 20-17 lead into the break. In the second half both teams traded body blows and with just over a minute left in the ball game the score was dead locked at 30. Alabama, not wanting to go into overtime, quickly worked their way down the field thanks to some huge pick-ups through the air and managed to get kicker Graham Nicholson into field goal range with just 3 seconds left on the clock. Nicholson, who was already a perfect 3/3 on field goals on the day, boomed the kick through the uprights as the clock ticked zero, giving the Crimson Tide the win. "This is why I'm here, said coach McDonagh at the post-game press conference. "This game probably took a couple of years off my life, but the atmosphere was amazing, and I wouldn't trade this feeling for anything. What a game." With the victory Alabama now returns home to Tuscaloosa to take on the Commodores of Vanderbilt.
