Army completes the comeback
Article By: In what seems to be a common theme this season for the "Cardiac Knights", Army fought a close game to the very end, this time coming out on top. Daily kept his INTs to a minimum, only throwing for 1 INT but 3 TDs and 214 yards (13 for 23).
Miles Stewart showed out in the rushing game today, going for 69 yards and 1 TD off of 18 attempts. He also caught 3 passes for 36 yards.
The passing game made a pleasant appearance for the first time this season, with 9 Black Knights catching a pass. Samari Howard led in receiving yards with 65 yards off of 2 catches. He also had 2 TDs. Yet, it was the big TE David Crossan that caught the go-ahead TD with 6 seconds left in the game. It appeared that Tulsa thought Army was going to run the ball again in order to kick a game-tying FG and as such was in cover 2 with the safety biting on the run. Crossan went on a fly and was left naked in the endzone for the go-ahead.
Army's defense held strong as well, getting 1 sack (K. Lewis) and 1 INT (C. Larkin). Larkin also balled out, having 10 tackles (2 solo, 8 assist) and 1 TDL. The other safety joined the LB core in being tied for 8 tackles each (E. Modozie, M. Didomenico, A. Thomas).
With this win and awaiting the Temple game, Army goes to 2-2 with a 2-1 conference record.
Disappointment
Article By: With just over a minute left, being ahead 24-21, it’s tough to see the game slip away due to missed opportunities, especially with that dropped interception turning into a momentum-shifting play for Army. Defending the flex-bone offense is always challenging, and when you combine that with critical missed plays and execution errors, it’s a recipe for disappointment.
The defensive struggles clearly became a major issue, as they couldn’t contain the opposing offense when it counted most. It’s no surprise that Coach Texanole would feel ready to shake things up and make changes on defense. This loss might just be the spark needed to push for a new defensive strategy or rotation to avoid more letdowns like this one. This sorry ass defense couldn't catch a cold in Wuhan let alone a pick when it matters.
Credit to Coach ofc_meep for a well-deserved win and a solid game plan.
