With NDL Gameday on site this past Saturday, the Baylor fans were reering to go in this one. ISU received the opening KO but failed to punch it in the EZ and were forced to settle for a mid FG. Baylor’s offense went to work, as Richard Reese again seemed to be the focal point, unfortunately just past midfield a terrible read led to a pick 6 for the Cyclones who now take an early 10-0 lead.
Coach Vegas pulled his team together and reminded them, “We have been here before. There is no reason to panic and we can recover from this. We need trust what we’ve practiced, and for the love of god protect the ball.”
The Bears were able to score to make it 10-7, and after forcing a long FG attempt, we’re able to get back on the field with a chance to take the lead back. Unfortunately, again an absolutely abysmal read to the right flat, led to an easy pick 6 again for the ISU Cyclones who again went up 10, 17-7.
After being stopped again on offense, the Baylor D proceeded to score on a Devin Lemear interception return for a TD, and then late in the half ISU kicked a FG to bring to bring the HT score at 20-14.
Baylor got the ball first but again were stifled, by the ISU defense. But again it was the Baylor defense causing a massive Hit Stick forced fumble on the right sideline by Keaton Thomas was picked up by Steve Linton for their 2nd defensive score on the day. Baylor was able to add a Cameron Bonner TD and bring the score up to 28-20.
ISU answered and converted the 2 point to tie it up at 28. Baylor went ahead and drove the length of the field, and after an overturned td, had to settle for 3 to go up 31-28. ISU was able to get into position for a potential game-tying fg, but decided to go for the win up the left sideline to their start WR, but Rolando Johnson, came in with the monster swat to end the game. (EA SAID, “NO ANIMATION FOR YOU”) LOL
