Tech Swarm the Blue Devils
Article By: The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets come in and pull off the upset against the Duke Blue Devils. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets get off to a 21-0 lead and never look back! Sacks left and right, interceptions every few drives, and a clean sheet on the offensive end. Great day for the Yellow Jackets.
Yellow Jackets too much for Duke
Article By: Duke welcomed Georgia Tech this weekend, both teams hot and looking to stay atop the ACC. Tech leans on their high powered offense led by QB Haynes King while Duke's defense has led the way for them to start the season. This looked to be an interesting matchup between a very efficient offense and a stingy defense, who's way would it fall?
The Yellow Jackets catch Duke flat footed early and jump out to a quick 14-0 lead. Duke finally puts a drive together, looking like they're going to cut the lead to 7 and the Tech defense jumps a WR screen and kills all Duke momentum with a pick 6 to extend the lead to 21. That play was seemingly the nail in the coffin for Duke as they were swimming up stream the rest of the game.
Duke found themselves having to do something they haven't had to do all season, abort the run and put the game on QB Maalik Murphy's shoulders. He ended with impressive numbers going 24-43 507 and 4. Unfortunately, he added 4 interceptions to his stat line which inevitably led to the Blue Devils never being able to tie the game or get ahead. Every time Duke would cut the lead and look to get control back of the game, Tech had an answer to extend their lead. Tech spread Duke's defense out all game, never allowing Dukes playmakers to get a takeaway or stops in key moments of the game.
Duke still finds themselves in contention for the ACC Championship game but the road ahead is extremely tough with games coming up at FSU, at SMU and then back home against Miami. Coach Shiesty said he and his team were able to take away some positives despite the tough loss to a good GT team and they will be ready to get back on track against FSU in week 8. The Blue Devils get a week to regroup and prepare for a good Seminole team with a bye in week 7.
See y'all in Tallatrashy!
