The Texas Tech Red Raiders traveled to Boulder to take on the Colorado Buffalos and their cast of elite athletes and came away with another embarrassing and demoralizing conference loss.
The team played well offensively early in the game but once the mistakes started happening, they were unable to recover mentally and continued turning the ball over, not recovering a punt until it started to cross the goal line and then got pushed back for a safety, etc.
There were not many bright sports in this game for the Red Raiders. QB Behren Morton looked great early in the season limiting mistakes but since conference play started he’s been a turnover machine. His internal clock speed and decision making is not good enough to compete.
Defensively the Red Raiders are one of the worst in the entire NDL. There are only 4 teams that have given up more total points this season. The Texas Tech defense combined with a very well coached Colorado was a recipe for disaster. Coach AUChase told us after the game that he thought the fans deserved better and in his own words he said “a better coach would be getting more out of this team. I apologize to our fans and boosters. We are not putting a product on the field worth being proud of.”
The Colorado Buffaloes cruised to a dominant 51-17 victory over Texas Tech in Boulder on Saturday night. Quarterback Shedeur Sanders had a perfect game, going 13-for-13 for 327 yards and 3 touchdowns. Running back Dallan Hayden contributed 86 yards and 2 touchdowns on 13 carries. Travis Hunter led the receiving corps with 3 catches for 93 yards and 1 touchdown. Colorado’s offense was efficient and balanced, with Sanders spreading the ball around to multiple targets.
Defensively, the Buffaloes held Texas Tech’s high-powered offense to just 17 points and forced 4 turnovers. Running back Tajh Brooks was the Red Raiders' bright spot, rushing for 105 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries. However, Colorado's defense was able to contain Brooks and shut down the rest of Texas Tech's attack. The win improved Colorado to 7-2 on the season.
