Hokies Escape THE Death Valley

Article By: VTrunNgun

The Virginia Tech Hokies secured a critical ACC road victory, defeating the Clemson Tigers 24-14 in a hard-fought defensive battle. The matchup in Death Valley highlighted Virginia Tech’s grit, as their defense stepped up in pivotal moments to stun the home crowd.

Clemson controlled possession early, but the Hokies’ defense held firm, forcing two turnovers that proved decisive. Linebacker Keonta Jenkins delivered a standout performance with 7 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, and a game-changing 99-yard pick-six late in the fourth quarter. His interception touchdown sealed the Hokies’ victory, extending their lead to double digits in the game’s final moments.

Offensively, Virginia Tech relied on a balanced but conservative attack. Quarterback Kyron Drones kept the chains moving with critical completions, while the Hokies’ offensive line, led by Kaden Moore’s 7 pancake blocks, paved the way for 79 rushing yards. The Hokies’ red-zone efficiency proved to be a decisive factor, as they capitalized on both trips inside Clemson’s 20-yard line with touchdowns.

Clemson managed 336 yards of offense, including 242 passing yards, but their inability to convert key third downs or protect the ball proved costly.

Standout Performances:

• Keonta Jenkins (LB): 7 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 1 interception, 1 defensive touchdown
• Kaden Moore (OL): 7 pancake blocks

This win solidifies Virginia Tech’s standing in the ACC, while Clemson will need to regroup after the costly turnovers and missed opportunities. The Hokies demonstrated why defense often wins games, even in the most hostile environments.
