The Huskies traveled down to LA for the second time this season, taking down the UCLA Bruins 20-7 in a defensive battle.
The game was a defensive battle the entire game. The Bruins started with the ball, and on their opening possession, QB Garbers fumbled the ball on a Jacob Bandez sack, who returned the ball 64 yards for a TD. Neither offense was able to even pass the 50 on the rest of their drives in the first leading to a score of 7-0 for after the first.
The Huskies offense was able to move the ball more effectively during the second. On a jet pass, WR Giles Jackson was able to take the ball 20 yards for a score. The Bruins responded with a TD of their own, on a 17 yard TD to WR Titus Mokaio-Altimalala. The Huskies wanted to end the half strong, scoring on a Grady Gross field goal. The score was 17-7 at half.
The only points of the entire second half came in the 3rd quarter with a Grady Gross kick near the end of the 3rd. Both defenses were able to make great plays, with the Husky defense forcing 5 turnovers (4 interceptions, 1 fumble). While the Bruins on could force one turnover, their stout run defense routinely put the Huskies at a disadvantage in field position. The game ended with a score of 20-7
GG james, a good luck the rest of the season!
