The score may not look pretty, because Oregon handled their business and executed, while Wisconsin didn't.
Oregon was the better team, better coached, and played better of course, but Wisconsin once again can't help but wonder why RB can't seem to get it done. Maybe he just doesn't have it between the ears?
Wisconsin had multiple chances in this game, stalled out on the goal line on a 4th and goal from the 1 as well as some missed FGs. "A lot of what if's" said coach RB, who is kicking himself after this loss. "Shel owns me, it's as simple as that. We score on the 1 yard line, make 2 FGS, we are looking at a 27-24 type of game with a chance, but we just aren't that team yet"
Oregon ran the ball effectively and the passing attack was a great compliment. Wisconsin's offense just could not execute and overcome the stick skills in the 2nd half. Talent both on the sticks and on the grid iron took over as Oregon went up 27-3 early 4th and never looked back. The Badgers got a late TD on a nice drive to end the game, and are hopeful they can carry that over into 2 rivalry games to finish the season.
GG Shel, and good luck wrapping up the big 10 and season 30 brother :)
Oregon topped Wisconsin in a game that on the surface appeared to be an easy win. Ducks led the entire way, led by as much as 27-3, and finished it off at 27-10.
But a closer look saw a much closer matchup than the final score would show. Wisconsin outgained Oregon 330-325 on offense, and both teams had 1 turnover.
The difference in this one was timely miscues. The Wisconsin kicker missed 2 FGs on the day. And the offense was also stopped inside the 2 yardline on a goalline stand by the Ducks. Those 3 plays alone would erase 13 would be points off the board for the Badgers. Additionally, there was also a dropped int on a short, smoke screen that would have possibly gone for a pick 6.
The Badgers were 0 for 3 overall on the day on 4th downs, and 3 for 10 on 3rd. Conversely, Oregon converted efficiently going 7 for 11 on 3rd downs, being able to extend drives and get points on the board.
