The game between Coach iroccafella and Coach Vic went down to the wire as Boise state defeated San Jose state 42-39 as Aston Jenty ran for 243 yards and 3tds while Maddox Madsen threw for 166 and two tds.
The game started out rough for San Jose as Jenty ran up and down and round and round the Spartans defense including a heisman like move at the goal line to get his second td. However there was no panic in the Spartans as they continued to run their offense and chip away at the lead. After a punt which was downed at the 1 the Spartans and walker eget drove 99 yards to cut the lead to 5 then hit nick nash for the 2pt conversion to cut the lead to 3 a stop by San Jose had just left them 25 seconds to go but a interception by the Boise defense with 11 seconds left squandered any chance the Spartans had left.
“This was a tough one” Coach Vic said after the game “we gave as much as we could give today they were just the better team”
Boise, ID - The Road warriors known as the BSU Broncos were glad to be home after a disappointing .500 split that included a heartbreaking loss to #13 SDSU. Given this likely closed the door on any hopes of a MWC championship berth, there's still plenty to play for as Alshon Jeanty bolstered his heisman campaign in a big way against the SJSU Spartans.
The Broncos wound up needing every yard as Coach Roc took his foot too far off the gas in the 3rd quarter up 42-17. 'Folks round the D1 circles seem to think we don't like to mix it up enough, so I dug a little deeper in the to the playbook, and had to give Jeanty some rest to boot' Coach Roc said in postgame. 'It almost cost us, but our D held out in the end to avoid another heartbreaker.'
Jeanty himself had quite the day amassing 299 yards and 4 TDs on just 24 carries, which brought him within 8 yards of the League lead in rush yards behind workhorse back Kaleb Johnson out of Iowa. Jeanty should be a bit more fresh to close out the season as he has 50 less carries than Johnson and 5 more TDs.
Next up is a home game against MWC darling Coach Liq & Wyoming who still has plenty to play for to close out MWC play before heading out to Corvallis to close the season out against Coach Untouchable and the Beavers.
