In a high-scoring battle on the road, the TCU Horned Frogs defeated the Arizona Wildcats 56-50 in a game filled with explosive plays and dramatic momentum swings.
The star of the night was TCU quarterback Josh Hoover, who delivered a near-flawless performance. Hoover completed 15 of 16 passes for a staggering 418 yards and five touchdowns without throwing an interception. His pinpoint accuracy and ability to stretch the field left Arizona's defense with no answers.
TCU’s defense also made game-changing plays. Cornerback LaMareon James had a standout night, recording two interceptions, including one he returned for a touchdown. His pick-six in the second quarter provided a crucial boost for the Horned Frogs in a game where every possession mattered.
Arizona, however, refused to go quietly. The Wildcats managed to keep the game close by recovering two onside kicks, seizing extra possessions to mount their comeback attempts. Their offensive output kept the pressure on TCU throughout the contest, but the Horned Frogs’ ability to create turnovers ultimately made the difference.
TCU's offense was simply unstoppable. Whether through Hoover's aerial dominance or their balanced attack, the Horned Frogs consistently found the end zone, keeping them one step ahead of Arizona's relentless pursuit.
The win moves TCU to 8-3 on the season, with only #11 Cincinnati remaining on their regular-season schedule. If the Horned Frogs can maintain their current form, they’ll carry significant momentum into postseason play.
For now, TCU can savor a hard-fought victory that showcased their offensive firepower and defensive opportunism in one of their most exciting games of the year.
Fifita recovered in the 2H but 1H turnovers too much
The score did not quite tell the story of this game. Arizona was not really within 6 points much of the day, due to excellent TCU offense. The Arizona defense was picked a part all night. Combine that with a disaster 1H from the offense, and Arizona was in quite the hole. This one still got very interesting in the 4th quarter once Arizona abandoned the idea of their defense seeing the field again via onside kicks.
Facing a 3 or 4 score deficit late, the Arizona offense kept efforting. They stayed balanced and chipped away. After numerous 3rd and 4th down conversions, Arizona found themselves getting TDs and when it came time to onside kick, they were recovering. The Wildcats Macgyvered 2 onside kick recoveries, and cut this game to 56-50 with a chance to recover another. TCU would fall on this one late though, and earn their much deserved victory
