Egg Bowl Disaster

Article By: beercop

Starkvegas, Ms

In a game that could have been played fifty years ago by looking at the score and offensive output, Miss St falls once again on this disaster of a season. State intercepted Jackson Dart four times and recovered one fumble but could only turn that into nine points.

With the game 9-3 in the fourth quarter, Ole Miss drove down and hit their big tight end for the go-ahead score and a 10-9 lead. Miss State would open the offense up and move down into field goal range with the clock winding down. Third and seven with a minute left Coach Beercop called on TB young Johnnie Daniels to carry the ball into the middle of the field for the go ahead kick and hopefully a win. What does young Johnnie do? Fumble...........

Miss State has one last chance at victory against Missouri, things are not looking good s they go on the road.

Rivalry games are a place were chaos and madness reign, and when your game is named after something that comes out of the butt of a chicken, isn't madness what you should expect?
This first half in this game was about as bad for Ole Miss as it could possibly be, with 5 turnovers. You had multiple plays were the receiver didn't turn around, or just watched the ball while a defender broke on it, and capped off by Dart getting tossed through the air like a dwarf inside the Miss State 10 leading to fumble.
The only reason this game wasn't a blowout loss for the Rebels was that their defensive line showed up for the first time all season long. The trio of Walter Nolan, Jared Ivy, and Princely Umanmielen combined for 19 stops, 10 for a loss, 4 sacks, and the game sealing fumble recovery. Had these guys done more of this during the season who knows how differently things could have played out.
