In a defensive slugfest, Jacksonville State (JSU) edged out Western Kentucky (WKU) 20-10, sealing the victory with a dramatic pick-six in the final seconds. The game was a battle of field position and turnovers, with both teams struggling to find offensive rhythm.
WKU outgained JSU 293 total yards to 255, but struggled in critical moments, particularly on third down, where they went 3-for-9, while JSU was even less successful at 1-for-8. The Hilltoppers had 167 passing yards compared to JSU’s 115, but their rushing game was stymied, gaining only 82 yards to JSU’s 109.
Defensively, both teams performed well, with both teams managing 2 interception, including one JSU returned for a touchdown to end the game. Despite creating two turnovers, WKU’s offense failed to capitalize, contributing to their third consecutive loss in a game decided in the waning moments. This latest defeat extends a tough streak for WKU, who have now lost three games in a row by a combined total of just 16 points, all in dramatic, heartbreaking finishes.
JSU’s win was also marked by a strong effort in special teams, with 31 yards from punt returns compared to WKU’s 27, and their defense proving resilient under pressure. The Hilltoppers did score in the red zone on their single trip, while JSU capitalized with a touchdown and a field goal.
The loss ends WKU's season at 5-7, missing out on a bowl bid.

First Half
Mostly defense in the first half by both teams.
Early in the game Gamecocks stall a drive out at the 33 yard line and Rippa buries a 50 yard field goal to go up 3.
Western Kentucky answers back with a good drive and finish it off with a 27 yard field goal to tie it up 3-3.
Jacksonville come down and quickly using timeouts and mostly run plays to kick a 29 yard feild goal to go up 6-3
Second Half
Jacksonville got ball first in the second half and have a nice 3 minute drive and run it in with Tre Stewart for a 8 yard rushing TD with a rippa extra point.
Western Kentucky comes back and throws a 12 yard pass from TJ Finley to river Helms for a 12 yard receiving TD.
Jacksonville defense steps up after a failed drive by jacksonville and takes a 73 yard interception return for a TD by Tee Denson rippa extra point.
Amazing defense by both teams and great special teams. This is the definition of a barn burner.
