Army Survives A Scare

Article By: Ofc Meep

In another battle to the end, the Army Black Knights edged out the Marshall Thundering Herd at home 31-28. The offensive poise came all from the group, as Miles Stewart ran for 124 yards and 3 TDs off of 17 carries. Only three Army players received a pass, and Daily only threw 1 INT.

Donavon Platt went off for the Army Defensive, causing 2 INTs and taking one 47 yards for a pick-6. Larkin also went off, totaling 15 tackles, surpassing an also-impressive 11 tackles by Fortner.

#4 on the Black Knights put Army in a bad possession late in the 4th, dropping the onside kick allowing Marshall to recover. "He is supposed to be on the hands team," noted Coach Meep, "He is getting an Article 15 and a 45/45 for that one."

Regardless, the Army defense chose to bend and not break, where Marshall drove to within the Army 5-yard line as time winded down, but missed the game-tying FG.

Great game Neal. Best of luck for the rest of the season.

Do a moment of silence for the 54th anniversary of the plane crash that took 75 lives of the Marshall Football Team (anniversary is tomorrow, 11/14).

FG miss loses game for Marshall

Article By: Neal

In a back and forth game in New York the Herd had a chance to tie the game to send it to OT but were unable to hit a chip shot FG due to being on the left hash and a sharp angle. Army ran the ball down the Herd defense throat and completed a few timely passes. Marshall scored a late TD to cut it to 31-28 then recovered the onside kick and drove the ball to the 3 yard line but did not get the ball to the middle of the field to make it easy and with 2 seconds left there was heartbreak in New York. Marshall went 0-4 in the non conference this season and overall are now 3-5 and hope to get back to winning to make a bowl game.
