Manhattan, Kansas - The Alabama Crimson Tide picked up their first victory of the season today, defeating the Wildcats of Kansas State 42-9. The Tide turned in a complete performance on both sides of the ball, as they managed to pick up big plays on offense and defense. On offense quarterback Jalen Milroe was the focal point for the Alabama attack, as he totaled 217 yards of total offense and 4 touchdowns. On defense the Tide managed to force Kansas State quarterback Avery Johnson into throwing 5 interceptions and limit the Wildcats to just 1 offensive score. "We came into a hostile enviroment and managed to execute on both sides of the ball," said coach McDonagh at the post game press conference. "We need to build off this momentum and hopefully carry it with us into next week's game against the Hurricanes." As coach McDonagh mentioned next week the Tide travel to Coral Gables to take on the Hurricanes of Miami which should serve as a litmus test as to how Alabama's season will play out.
Kansas state came into tonight matchup with the #2 ranked Crimson Tide not expecting much. That was fulfilled early and often in this one. Turnover after turnover for the highly touted players on the Tide made life difficult for Cat fans. Johnson couldn’t get it going. The best play of the day came on an INT which gave bama the ball on their own 1. K-State was able to sellout get the safety and score a TD to save a bit of face but the rout was on as the Tide focus on the SEC and a deep playoff run and the Wildcats look forward to what the Big XII might look like in coach bearass’ second season in purple.
