Notre Dame Overpowers UNC

Article By: Mattdaddy

In a highly anticipated matchup, the University of North Carolina (UNC) faced off against Notre Dame, but the Tar Heels fell short in a decisive 38-17 loss. The game remained competitive through the third quarter, with UNC trailing just 17-10. However, Notre Dame’s relentless offense and strong defensive play proved too much for the Tar Heels as the game progressed.

UNC struggled to maintain momentum, turning the ball over three times, which handed the Fighting Irish advantageous field position. Notre Dame capitalized on these mistakes, extending their lead and dominating the final quarter.

As the Tar Heels look to regroup, they’ll need to address their turnover issues and find a way to bounce back. With their season still in motion, the focus now shifts to upcoming challenges. GG Reign.

Irish Coffee is for Closers!

A - B - C, Always Be Closing... and that's exactly what the Notre Dame football team did in South Bend today against a well coached North Carolina team. Star HBs Jeremiyah Love for Notre Dame and Omarion Hampton for North Carolina exchanged 70+ yard touchdown runs in the first half and a FG for each squad, as it looked to be 10-10 going to half. But Riley Leonard was able to get the ball back with just over a minute to go and make a lightning quick drive down the field, hitting Love for a 14yd TD (1 of 4 totals scores for Love on the day) to give Notre Dame the edge at half 17-10.

Coach Reign felt confident about the outlook going into the 2nd half, after overcoming a few poor decisions in the first half and having the lead and possession to start the 2nd half. But things didn't go accordingly to plan, as a solid drive ended with backup HB Jadarian Price getting rocked and fumbling the ball in the red zone. The Heels and Irish battled through a scoreless 3rd quarter and then the wheels flew off of the wagon for the Heels in the 4th. Notre Dame scored to start the quarter, then followed it with back-to-back sacks on QB Max Johnson, who threw an interception on the next play. 3 runs and 39 yards later and Notre Dame found themselves in the end zone again to go up by 21. After taking the kickoff, on the next play from scrimmage, Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa caused and recoved a fumble at the UNC 7. Backup HB Jadarian Price hammered it 3x, scoring on the 3rd, to give the Irish a 28pt lead. Max Johnson was able to orchestrate a solid drive going 4/5 with under 3 to go, hitting HB Omarion Hampton for 62yd strike to bring it to the final score of Notre Dame 38 - North Carolina 17.

Coach Reign: "We knew we had our hands full this evening with a great veteran coach and elite halfback in Omarion Hampton. We made a few mistakes in the first half that we're going to need to correct, but the running game was strong and our OL may have had their best game that I've seen from them over the last 2 seasons. If we get that kind of blocking consistently, we're going to be tough to stop. But we've still got work to do. Best of luck to the Heels and Coach Matt this season. Solid program and talented coach!"
