The Clemson Tigers shut out the ODU Monarchs 34-0. ODU started with the ball but DE Peter Woods forced an early fumble that was recovered by the defense. Clemson was able to convert quickly for an early 7-0 lead. The Tigers next possession was one play as Klubnik hooked up with Tyler Brown for a 60 yard touchdown pass. The TIgers would add ten more points to lead 24-0.
Clemson started the second half with the ball but ended up punting. They would quickly get the ball back but end up only a field goal to lead 27-0 at the end of the third quarter.
Another Monarchs possession would lead to an interception by Aveion Terrell. The turnover would setup the final score of the game when Maffah plowed up the middle for his second touchdown of the game.
Next up is Minnesota then Clemson begins conference play.
The Monarchs came into Death Valley knowing it would be an uphill climb.
ODU's QB had issues with protection and ball security, compounding the pressure on their defense.
Clemson showed their depth of athletes, with tons of pressure from the d line, and the typical strong running from #7.
Hopefully ODU can bounce back, it's early in the year.
