West Virginia gets smacked in the FACE!

Article By: bergerkingcle

West Virginia suffered a tough loss to Virginia Tech, falling 38-3 in a game marred by early mistakes and turnovers. The game started poorly for West Virginia, as running back Jaheim White fumbled on the very first offensive snap, setting the stage for a quick 14-0 deficit.

Quarterback Garrett Greene had a particularly rough outing, throwing four interceptions and fumbling three times, compounding the Mountaineers' struggles. Despite their efforts, West Virginia couldn’t recover from the early miscues, leading to a lopsided defeat at the hands of Virginia Tech.

After the game, West Virginia's coach reflected on the team’s performance, stating, "When you turn the ball over like we did, you don’t deserve for it to be close, and we got what we deserved."

Hokies Take Black Diamond Trophy Back!

Article By: VTrunNgun

The Virginia Tech Hokies cruised to a dominant 38-3 victory over the West Virginia Mountaineers, powered by a well-balanced offense and a suffocating defense that forced five turnovers.

Quarterback Kyron Drones led the Hokies’ offensive charge, completing 8-of-12 passes for 163 yards and three touchdowns. His efficiency in the air kept the West Virginia defense on its heels, while Virginia Tech’s ground game added 112 rushing yards to control the pace.

The Hokies’ defense, however, was the story of the game, with cornerback Dorian Strong delivering a standout performance. Strong recorded three interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns, effectively shutting down the Mountaineers’ offense. Virginia Tech’s defense was relentless, forcing a total of five turnovers, including four interceptions, and holding West Virginia to just 227 yards of total offense.

West Virginia struggled to find any offensive rhythm, managing only 49 rushing yards and 178 passing yards. Despite earning 11 first downs, the Mountaineers couldn’t convert opportunities into points, failing to score any touchdowns.

Virginia Tech’s ability to convert on third downs (6-of-10) was another key factor in the game, allowing them to sustain drives and control the clock. West Virginia converted 5-of-10 third downs but couldn’t find success in the red zone.

On special teams, West Virginia had a bright spot with 117 kick return yards, but it wasn’t enough to turn the tide. Virginia Tech’s defense made sure the Mountaineers’ offensive efforts were short-lived.

The Hokies dominated time of possession with 17:08 compared to West Virginia’s 10:52, allowing them to dictate the game’s tempo and prevent any potential comeback.
