Article By: driccio21

UConn's defense showed up today vs a well coached Arkansas St team that limited turnovers and played hard nosed football.

"We win cause we create turnovers and today Coach Dak had zero in the first 3 quarters and that forced us to play a little more conservative than we normally do." Said DRiccio21 in the postgame.

UConn QB Nick Evers had his first int free game and it helped keep the Huskies in plus field position most of the game.

Hats Off to UConn!

In a game that defied the usual definitions of competition, the University of Connecticut and Arkansas State University took to the field this Friday morning for a football showdown that was as much about fun as it was about winning. The contest, held at a sleepy stadium at the unusually early hour of 7:00 a.m., featured two teams that couldn’t have been more different in style but shared one thing in common: a love for the game.

The matchup, which had originally been scheduled to take place later in the day, became an impromptu event after scheduling conflicts left both teams stranded in town overnight. Rather than sulk in hotel rooms, the teams and their fans—who had somehow managed to wake up before the sun—decided to play. The result? A wildly entertaining 60 minutes of football that had more comedic moments than dramatic ones. Arkansas State’s players, known for their high-energy style, came out with wild enthusiasm, sporting mismatched socks and goofy grins, while UConn’s squad, despite the early hour, executed their plays with surprising finesse.

Though the final score was 24-10 in favor of UConn, the game felt more like a shared celebration than a fierce competition. The teams traded touchdowns in ways that defied logic, with Arkansas State scoring after a wild reverse and UConn responding with calm, calculated drives. The fans—about a dozen of them, mostly local farmers and sleepy-eyed parents—cheered on both teams with equal joy, applauding the fun more than the final score. Even the mascots got in on the action, with Arkansas State’s Howl and Scarlet doing cartwheels on the sideline and UConn’s Jonathan the Husky leading the charge with a calm, confident strut.

As the game wound down, both teams, despite the clear victory for UConn, celebrated as if they had both won. Coaches and players exchanged high-fives, laughed about the absurdity of playing football at such an early hour, and even made plans to do it all again next year—hopefully after a few more hours of sleep. In the end, the score didn’t matter. It was a reminder that sometimes, the best games are the ones where the fun comes first, and everything else—well, it just falls into place.
